MNTN CEO Talks Netflix Subscriber Numbers and Ad-Supported Tier With Bloomberg

1 Min Read

Netflix just announced that their subscriber loss for Q2 came in around 1 million subscribers under their projections. This is good news for the streaming giant, who are still seeing lower user numbers than originally expected by this point. New content like the recent season of Stranger Things, which generated 1.3 billion hours of viewing in the first four weeks, has been bolstering Netflix during this uncertainty.

Mark Douglas, CEO and Founder of MNTN, recently spoke to Bloomberg on Netflix’s future. When asked whether the worst was behind the streaming company, Douglas stated, “Well, I think there’s still uncertainty in the third quarter. Netflix has announced they want to launch their Ad Business in Q4, so I think between now and the end of Q4 there’s still a lot of questions to be answered.” But Douglas points out that once Netflix is past this uncertainty, they have a solid position in the market, “You have to remember, Netflix has twice the subscribers of the next biggest competitor. So they’re the market leader and they’re adapting very very quickly.”
